A life spent making things.

i want to build things that matter. things that make people feel something. things that solve problems. things that make somebody's day a little easier, or a little more interesting.

and sometimes, things that exist for no other reason than because i thought they'd be cool.

i don't believe creativity belongs to any one discipline.

it's in the way you solve a problem. the way you build a business. the way you arrange a room, cook a meal, tell a story, or figure out how something works.

i think everything is a design problem if you're curious enough.

i started with engineering. fell in love with design. built brands. built products. built businesses. learned a lot of things the hard way.

and somewhere along the way, i realized i don't particularly care what you call me.

designer. engineer. creative director. entrepreneur.

i just like making things better.

i want to work with people who give a shit.

people who are curious. people who challenge ideas. people who can admit when they're wrong. people who get unreasonably excited about the little details.

i want to argue about typography and then laugh about how ridiculous it is that we're arguing about typography.

i want to make beautiful things that actually work. because beautiful and functional aren't opposites. and neither are creativity and business.

i think the best work happens when you stop treating them like they are.

i believe good ideas can come from anywhere.
i believe knowing how to build something makes you better at imagining it.
i believe a good leader makes everyone around them better.
i believe you should always be learning something that makes you feel a little stupid.
i believe there's a difference between being professional and being boring.

and i believe the internet could use a little more personality. Maybe a lot of personality honestly.

i want to make mistakes. change my mind. try things that probably won't work. get obsessed with something completely unrelated to my job.

i want to care about the work without letting it become my entire identity. because outside of the meetings, deadlines, presentations, and pixels, there's a whole life worth living.

people to love. places to see. dogs to pet. hobbies to get unnecessarily competitive about. a thousand other things i haven't discovered yet.

i want to build a career i'm proud of. but more importantly, i want to build a life i'm proud of.

one where the work means something. where the people mean more. where curiosity never really goes away.

i don't want to look back and wish i'd played it safer.

i want to look back and think,
damn, we made some cool stuff.

and then get started on something else.
